Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes, root canal treatments may require a second procedure to ensure the health and longevity of your tooth. The primary reason for root canal retreatment is the contamination of the previously treated root canal system. This can occur due to a leaking filling, gum tissue recession exposing the dentin, or decay in the tooth structure.
In some cases, the initial treatment may not address all the intricate parts of the root canal, especially in teeth with complex or tiny canals that are challenging to navigate. Our expert team is equipped to identify and treat these often-missed areas during a retreatment. Additionally, certain bacteria may be resistant to standard disinfection methods, requiring a more targeted approach.
Our retreatment process involves carefully removing the existing root canal filling, thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the canal, and then refilling and sealing it anew. To ensure complete disinfection, we typically conduct this procedure over two appointments. While the success rate for retreatment is slightly lower than the initial root canal treatment, it remains high—generally over 80%, depending on individual circumstances.
We are committed to providing the best possible care, using our expertise to address and resolve any issues that arise, even in the most complex cases.
